Andersen L.

she/her

ChildBirth & Postpartum Doula

Andersen is a Childbirth & Postpartum Doula who is trained through DONA and certified through ProDoula. Her strength is being able to empathize and create a personal connection with each of her families and make them feel connected and heard.

Andersen grew up in Bloomington, IN and attended IUPUI where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences and Health Education. She has a background in mental health and health coaching. She is also CPR/BLS certified. Andersen has a passion for helping families have an empowering, positive birth experience, allowing them to make their birth experience truly their own.

Being a mother of 3 young children and having her 3 completely different birth and postpartum experiences is what helped guide Andersen into birthwork. She has always loved labor and birth starting at a young age. Her own journey into motherhood began at the age of 20, while still in college, giving birth as a single mom to her first son. It was following this birth that she learned everything that childbirth can and should be for families! Her calling is  helping guide families through the unknown and taking the mystery out of pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Having had 3 different birth experiences allows her to bring additional knowledge and wisdom to the table from induction/medicated, unmedicated and home birth experiences. Andersen is kind hearted, funny, resilient and the perfect addition to any birth team!

A Note From Andersen:

HI! I’m Andersen! Mom of 3 littles, aged 6, 2 and the most recent addition joining our family in June 2023.! My husband and I live in Greenwood, Indiana but someday hope to call the beach home, where our hearts lie. My roots reside in Kansas where my family moved from to Bloomington, Indiana when I was young. In 2014 I moved to the Indy area for school.I graduated from IUPUI in 2017 with a Bachelors of Science in Health Sciences and Health Education.

I am a lover of true crime, exploring new restaurants, being outside whether that's playing with the kids, gardening, enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning , boating, kayaking or hiking. Outside of being outdoors, my other favorite activity to stay active is heavy weight lifting. My favorite food is probably French fries, and chocolate chip cookies. Music is something I have always felt connected to, and is a major outlet for me, exploring all genres. If it has a good beat and lyrics, you can catch it on my playlist. I love exploring and learning about holistic ways of living and incorporating such into our lives!

After working in various sectors of Healthcare for 6 years, I felt like I was always searching for more. I knew I was meant for something more than just a 9-5 desk job. I wanted to be hands on and help others in some sort of way that enriched their lives. I knew what a doula was, and almost hired one for my second birth. It was that birth and postpartum experience that led me to dive deeper into the birth world and discover what birth truly can be with proper education/knowledge, birth preparation and advocacy. My vision is to empower every birthing person during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum, welcoming a positive birth experience ; not one that is feared or ominous. Birth is a natural, physiological process that every birthing person should feel confident in. My goal is to create a space where individuals and their families feel at peace and comfortable in their own decisions surrounding pregnancy and birth through informed decision making that aligns with their values, generating power and knowledge. When it comes to postpartum, this is something due to my own experiences that I feel very passionate about, because people often forget when a baby is born, so is a mother. Without proper support it can be easy to get lost in the trenches of postpartum when it gets heavy. I am here to be that support for you.
